Getting to Crested Butte

There are several ways to get to Crested Butte.  The most direct route is through the Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC) located in Gunnison, Colorado.  In January there are daily flights into GUC from Denver (DEN) on United Airlines and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on American Airlines.  There are also flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Los Angeles (LAX) on Alaska Airlines.  Flights into Montrose

Driving to Crested Butte from Denver is and option however, in January weather can extended and even delayed travel by road.  Generally, the trip from the Denver International Airport to Crested Butte is about 5 hours.  If planning a trip through Denver please budget extra time at the beginning and end of your trip to allow for un-planned obstacles.  Also, please keep an eye on updates for closures on Monarch Pass to best plan your trip.    

Once in Gunnison public and private transport up valley is available.  The Gunnison-Crested Butte airport has rental cars available through Avis, Budget, and Hertz.  The Alpine Express also runs regular shuttles up to Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley RTA provides free shuttles from locations in Gunnison.  When in Crested Butte the Mountain Express Bus runs regular shuttles through town and up to Mt. Crested Butte
